Ears to Hear

The first time I saw this commercial I felt an immediate sense of identification with the mother. I know that glazed look that screams, "Help me; my ears are bleeding!" I was blessed with an extremely beautiful and equally loquacious daughter, and, honestly, I don't remember a time pre-talking. For all I know she came out of the womb speaking full sentences.

Thinking the commercial was hilarious and so close to home, I tivo'd it and played it back for Dan when he came home. We laughed together, as if sharing an inside joke, but I was surprised by my reaction to the ending this time. At first I was elated to see the cell phone as a possibility, down the road of course, of giving my ears a rest. However, this time around watching the commercial my heart ached. I realized that this incessant talking that I often view as an annoyance is in fact a blessing in disguise. I want my little girl, who will all too soon be my big girl, to talk to me. And though I am surprised and a little scared to say it, I never want that talking to stop. Okay, it would be nice if every now and then she took a longer breath between words....

Just wanted to let you know that EC told me today that Riley was her best friend in Greenwood and that she missed her. So give Riley a big hug and a hello from us.

That totally made me think of Riley. I love your revelation through the commercial. You should write a book. I would buy it. =) I think you are so wonderful and you are my favorite.
THat is TOO FUNNY. I saw that commercial for the first time, and shook my head and literally laughted out loud. It was like that commerial set up headquarters at our home to see what a talkative child is like....SF taught them well! :)

Yes, a breath would be good. I go through the same thing with my two, and my boy is even more talkative than my girl. LOL They just went down for a nap, and I"m trying to recoop from today. They like to go into great detail about their day at Sunday School, but they both tell me about it at the SAME time. Still...I do enjoy it. :)
