Week in Review

This has been another great week, though very hectic. We have dropped Ordinary Parents Guide to Reading and opted for a basket of books. Every day, Riley chooses a book to read to me, and we discuss the phonograms in each word that she struggles with. We are still reviewing the phonogram cards daily. This is working out much better for us, as OPGTR had become a daily struggle for both of us. We have a four-day schedule with Fridays primarily for any catch up needed and art/science projects. This week we took Thursday off due to appointments, and Friday was a normal school day.

Monday we read the story of Joseph from My Father's World 1st grade. We started Bob Jones University Math 1st grade at lesson 32 and began subtraction. Riley did workbook pages 63 and 64. She also did Primary Phonics workbook 1 page 50. We went over phonograms, and she read from the Dick and Jane blue book pages 119-122. She also picked a book from the basket: Arthur's Reading Race.

Tuesday we continued the story of Joseph from MFW. Riley read the story of Joseph to me from her Bible Reader and then did a page in her Bible Notebook. She did workbook pages 65 and 66 from BJU Math and PP workbook page 51. We went over phonograms, and she read Put Me in the Zoo from the book basket.

Wednesday we began the story of Moses from MFW. Riley read pages 123-125 from Dick and Jane. She did BJU Math workbook pages 67 and 68 and PP workbook page 52. We went over phonograms and she read Dr. Seuss' ABC's.
